Hardware is a general term that refers to the physical artifacts of a technology. It may also mean the physical components of a computer system, in the form of computer hardware.

A Central Processing Unit (CPU) is a logic machine that can execute computer programs. This broad definition can easily be applied to many early computers that existed long before the term "CPU" ever came into widespread usage. The term itself and its initialism have been in use in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s (Weik 1961). The form, design and implementation of CPUs have changed dramatically since the earliest examples, but their fundamental operation has remained much the same.

There are thousands of different models of printers, digital cameras, network adapters, and other hardware accessories (generally referred to as devices) that you can use with a computer running Microsoft Windows XP. Most of the time, you can install and begin using a device right away. Occasionally, however, you might encounter a problem during installation or even when using a device that previously worked.

Most of the time, you can install and begin using a device right away. Occasionally, however, you might encounter a problem during installation or even when using a device that previously worked.

If you run into a problem with your hardware, you may be able to solve it by trying these three things:

• Troubleshooting problems with new hardware

• Reinstalling the hardware

• Identifying a hardware failure

I am having a problem with the Safely Remove Hardware applet in Windows XP. It cannot stop any USB device I connect to my PC. Whether it be a Flash Drive, my Firefly portable hard drive or my WD My Book external hard drive. It always says the device cannot be stopped. I can restart the PC and try stopping the device again and it still says the device cannot be stopped. I have also tried using a similar application called USB Safely Remove and it does the same thing. This app is supposed to display any processes that may have the device locked, but it always says none were found. It is clearly an issue with Windows XP and not the applications. Also, I have tried these devices on other Windows XP machines and have no problems on them.

I strongly believe that your graphics adapter is overheating. Graphics intensive applications especially games and video editing programs require your GPU to work hard. Check all your cooling fans. They might not be spinning enough to cool down your hardware. Add more fans if you can't touch the heat sinks with your fingers without being "torched".

Try popping out the cover of your computer's casing and blow an external fan through it. See if it would make a difference.
